TMJ disorders
Pain, clicking, popping or locking in the jaw joint. The most common reason people come here, and the most commonly missed.
Orofacial pain & TMJ · Teliyarganj, Prayagraj
Dr Srivastava's JN Dental Clinic treats orofacial pain — the aches, clicks and headaches that start in the jaw and get dismissed everywhere else. We find the source before we treat it.
The doctor
I've spent 14 years treating patients who arrived after seeing three other doctors. Orofacial pain is badly understood — it hides behind migraines, ear infections and sinus trouble, and most people are told to live with it.
My work is to find the actual source, usually in the jaw joint or the muscles around it, and treat it without rushing to surgery. Consultations run 40 minutes, because that is how long it takes to hear a whole history properly.
— Dr. Ankit Srivastava
The speciality
The jaw joint carries more daily load than any other joint in the body. When it goes wrong, the pain rarely stays where it started — which is why it gets misread as a migraine, an ear infection or sinus trouble for years.
Pain, clicking, popping or locking in the jaw joint. The most common reason people come here, and the most commonly missed.
Persistent pain across the cheek, temple or around the ear that has been investigated elsewhere and come back clear.
Bruxism that wears teeth down, cracks fillings and leaves you waking with a sore jaw or a headache.
Headaches driven by the muscles that move the jaw, which respond to jaw treatment rather than painkillers.
How treatment runs
A full history, a clinical examination of the joint and muscles, and imaging where it changes the answer. Nothing is treated until the source is clear.
Splint therapy, targeted physiotherapy, and correcting the habits that keep the joint loaded. This resolves the majority of cases.
Splints are adjusted as symptoms change. Most patients notice a difference within a few weeks.
Referred and considered last, not first — and only when conservative treatment has genuinely been given a chance.
Self-check
Tick anything you recognise. Nothing is sent anywhere — this just helps you describe the problem, and fills in the enquiry form below.
Also at the clinic
Orofacial care is the speciality, but the clinic runs as a full general practice — you don't need a second dentist for routine work.

Before you come
No. You can message the clinic directly and book a consultation yourself.
About 40 minutes. Orofacial cases usually have a long history behind them, and it takes that long to hear it properly.
Any previous X-rays, scans or reports, and a list of medicines you're currently taking — including anything prescribed for headaches or ear pain.
Almost certainly not. Most orofacial cases respond to splint therapy, physiotherapy and habit correction. Surgery is a last option, considered only after conservative treatment has been given a fair trial.
Yes — both routine children's dentistry and jaw problems in teenagers, which are more common than most parents expect.
